A HINT OF MURDER: THE WRITER: The bodies were piling up, and with each murder there was a copy of another novel by Alicia Fairfield. In fact, it soon became clear that the killer was working backwards with her writing: the first murder was fashioned after her last novel; the second murder was from the novel before the last novel.....But who would want to do such a despicable thing? And why? Was it a crazy fan? Someone seeking revenge for something? Her mentally ill son?
Alicia Fairfield didn't have any idea why anyone would be doing this, but it was tearing her apart. Then the phone calls began, and people began watching her. The police had better solve this mystery quickly. And besides the issues Alicia had, the next novel (assuming the killer sticks to his pattern) included seven murders!
Very enjoyable story. Easy to follow. Didn't end where I expected.
A HINT OF MURDER: THE DOCTOR: Dr. Russell Morgan was bound to be a suspect. After all, the murdered man was his patient, and he had been investigated in the past when his care of another patient had resulted in that person's death. But the good doctor was most assuredly not the only suspect.
“ ' What we got is too many suspects,' Frank said flopping down in a chair...... 'We got Bellville’s doctor and the head nurse that found Bellville, those two nurse interns, an orderly— ..... Plus the daughter.' "
So just exactly who DID kill the elderly gentleman who had come to this place of healing only to end up dead? You will have to find that out for yourself. But poor Mr. Bellville will not be the only victim. No indeed. There is a serial killer on the loose, and one doesn't even have to be terminally ill or severely injured to wind up dead in this place!
Another good story for you.
A HINT OF MURDER: THE BOUNCER: Tonight Bobby wouldn't be just the bouncer. Tonight he would make his singing debut. He had waited for this opportunity so long, and now Mike, the club manager, was on the stage to announce him. That's when his dreams came crashing down.
Poor Bobby. Two police detectives wanted Bobby to accompany them out back to discuss the murder of Allen Shaffer. He claimed he didn't do it. Sure, he had been there. But kill him? No way!
So who DID kill Allen Shaffer? Fortunately for Bobby, the police have several other possibilities: the wife, her lover, the butler (aka personal assistant), a business associate..... Which one had the reason to kill Allen?
This was another good whodunit. That makes 3 for 3 which means I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys light reading and whodunits. I was very pleasantly surprised!
EXCERPT - VigilAnnie: Sorry. I do not read or review the excerpts. Ever. I just don't.
(Bonus story) HOMELESS: Ted and Elsie were homeless. They hadn’t really planned on having an extra mouth to feed, but when Ted’s sister was killed by a drunk driver, they thought taking in Jack Jr. (JJ) was the right thing to do. At least for the moment they had found shelter from the rain in this warehouse. But they were starving.
There WAS a way out of this mess. Somewhere they could go. Finally Ted and Elsie decided they SHOULD go. Even JJ thought so. But where exactly IS this place that is going to be their salvation? Is it going to be worth the risk?
Find out for yourself as you read this very short story. I don't think you will have any idea about the way it will end.

A Hint of Murder edition by Lia Fairchild Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the 3 stories in the Series and liked that they could be easily read during a commute or a coffee break.
the stories remind me of the 70s detective shows that i still love. i can easily see Columbo solving these crimes. this is not to say that the stories are old fashioned. they are police procedurals and they have that no-nonsense feel from that era.
i liked the first one, The Writer, best. it caught me by surprise.
I'm not big into mysteries, but this book was different. The stories were short enough that I didn't get bored with them and they held my attention. The characters were interesting and not carved from the same tree that most murder-mystery characters are. Lastly, I could NOT figure out who the killer was in ANY of the stories like I usually do! All in all, Lia Fairchild has made a new fan with me and I can't wait to read more of her work. Great job to the author and keep up the good work!
A HINT OF MURDER has three stories in one.The series reads like a who done it type of a read. The drama in the book raises your senses as to know which person in the stories could actually commit such a heinous crime. Also the author throws in a host of characters to peek your interest, and also to throw you off a bit.All three stories had me reading from page to page to find out who actually done the crime.Over all it was a great read.
I don't read nearly as much as I'd like, so when I saw Lia Fairchild, whose book Vigil Annie was so good, had a short story book, I figured it was the perfect read for me. All three stories kept me guessing throughout, and since I love mysteries, I have nothing but good things to say. I liked the detectives especially, who professionally analyzed the clues and suspects in each story while never giving away the guilty parties. Fairchild does a great job of providing suspects with motive as well as providing clues and misdirection. I never felt confident about who was guilty and was surprised each time. They were all enjoyable stories, and I would recommend the book to any mystery lover.
A Hint of Murder The Series By Lia Fairchild This was a series for three little stories of murder. The cops that handle them are Detective John Lewis and Detective Frank Costas, added at the end is Detective April Barnes. These are three little mysteries that keep you guessing right up to the end. So many possible suspects, so many possible motives, it is fun to watch the detectives work through the scene, the people, the victim. Loved these little stories, plus the bonus at the end that is so totally not what it seems. Five star rating for this book, it will be a keeper.
A HINT OF MURDER is three books in one. The entire book keeps you engaged and intrigued throughout. It keeps you guessing as to who is the culprit. Who did what and for what reason. It keeps you glued to your seat as you turn from one page to next while the story stays one step ahead the entire time. The real perpetrator isn't revealed until the author decides it is time for you to know. This is an amazing read. I'm not usually one for mystery/crime novels but I highly recommend this book to everyone!
A HINT OF MURDER THE SERIES BY LIA FAIRCHILD.
There are three very different stories contained in this book. All are about murder and are being solved by the same detectives. The writer-Alicia is a mystery writer whose books are being mirrored in recent murders. The Doctor-a doctor is playing God with his patients health and the detectives are closing in. The Bouncer-a young man wants a shot at fame to escape the dead end job he has as a bouncer and glorified errand boy when a prominent business man turns up dead, the bouncer is suspect numero uno.
All the stories start out with an obvious suspect but there are interesting twists that will surprise the reader. I know I was amazed by the out comes in each story. I had a hard time putting the book down and was impressed with the connections. I recommend the book to anyone who likes a good mystery with an unexpected end. 5 sherriff stars for this one.
